About the role#
This position is designed for foreign pharmacy graduates who have completed their education outside of the United States. You will complete your required US internship hours to prepare for a future pharmacist role. Under the direction of a preceptor, you will participate in a structured learning plan to build clinical knowledge and leadership skills. You are expected to complete your internship within 18 months and obtain pharmacist licensure in Iowa within 120 days of finishing your required hours.
What you'll do#
- Follow company standard operating procedures and pharmacy workflow protocols at every workstation.
- Assist patients by showing empathy, fielding medical questions, and soliciting medical history.
- Take telephonic prescriptions from prescribers and clarify medication details.
- Provide coaching, training, and mentoring to pharmacy team members.
- Complete basic inventory tasks like cycle counts and processing returns.
- Comply with all federal, state, and local laws, regulations, and ethical standards to ensure patient safety and privacy.
- Deliver health care services such as immunizations and point-of-care testing where permitted by law.
- Complete Technician Immunizer training and certification.
What you'll need#
- Graduation from a non-US accredited college or school of pharmacy.
- FPGEC certification.
- Valid intern or technician licensure, or be in the process of obtaining it.
- Ability to obtain pharmacist licensure in Iowa within 120 days of completing your intern hours.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Suite is preferred.
- At least one year of experience in a pharmacy, retail, medical, or customer service setting is preferred.
- Ability to become immunization certified is preferred.
- Willingness to work in your home store and travel to other locations within the market as needed is preferred.
