About the role#
This position is for foreign pharmacy graduates seeking to complete their required US internship hours. You will work in a retail pharmacy setting under the direct supervision of a licensed pharmacist. The goal of this program is to build upon your existing education, develop your clinical and leadership skills, and prepare you for pharmacist licensure. You are expected to complete all required internship hours within 18 months and obtain state pharmacist licensure within 120 days of finishing those hours.
What you'll do#
- Process prescriptions, including translating SIG codes, selecting products, counting, measuring, and labeling drugs.
- Resolve third party rejections and complete manual claim forms.
- Perform prescription pick-up procedures and maintain inventory management policies.
- Counsel patients under the direct supervision of a licensed pharmacist.
- Support the supervising pharmacist in dispensing, reviewing, and monitoring compliance.
- Greet customers and assist with their questions or concerns.
- Lead and motivate pharmacy support staff to maximize team strengths.
- Participate in store operational meetings.
- Administer immunizations once state regulations are met.
- Ensure a safe and effective work environment.
What you'll need#
- Doctorate (PharmD) or equivalent pharmacist degree from a non-US accredited school of pharmacy.
- Successful completion of the FPGEE and TOEFL.
- An active pharmacy intern license in the state where the district is located.
- High school diploma or GED.
- Strong communication and presentation skills.
- Ability to lift and exert up to 20 lbs of force occasionally and up to 10 lbs frequently.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite is preferred.
- Eligibility to immunize is preferred.
