About the role#
This position is designed for foreign-trained pharmacists to complete their required US internship hours. You will work under the direct supervision of a licensed pharmacist to gain experience in retail pharmacy operations, patient care, and leadership. The program requires you to complete your internship within 18 months and obtain pharmacist licensure in your state within 120 days of finishing your required hours.
What you'll do#
- Ensure a safe and effective retail pharmacy environment while modeling professional values.
- Process prescriptions, including translating SIG codes, selecting products, and labeling.
- Resolve third-party rejections and manage inventory to keep stock levels accurate.
- Perform patient counseling under the direct supervision of a licensed pharmacist.
- Adopt and manage patient care programs to keep customers healthy.
- Lead with empathy and compassion when interacting with patients, caregivers, and colleagues.
- Support your pharmacy manager by motivating and developing pharmacy support staff.
- Greet customers in a courteous, professional manner and maintain patient confidentiality per HIPAA standards.
- Identify business opportunities and implement solutions to improve pharmacy performance.
What you'll need#
- A Doctorate (PharmD) or equivalent pharmacist degree from a non-US accredited school of pharmacy.
- Successful completion of the FPGEE and TOEFL exams.
- An active pharmacy intern license in the state where the district is located.
- A High School Diploma or GED.
- Strong communication and presentation skills.
- Ability to maintain regular, predictable attendance, including nights and weekends.
- Physical ability to lift and exert up to 20 lbs. of force occasionally, 10 lbs. frequently, and a negligible amount regularly.
