About the role#
As an International Pharmacy Intern, you will complete your required US internship hours to build upon your existing pharmacy education. This role is designed for foreign graduates to develop the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to practice as a pharmacist in the United States. You will work under the direct supervision of a licensed pharmacist to deliver patient care, manage pharmacy operations, and support your team. You must complete your internship within 18 months and obtain pharmacist licensure in Wisconsin within 120 days of completing your required hours.
What you'll do#
- Ensure a safe and effective retail pharmacy environment by focusing on patient safety, regulatory compliance, and quality assurance.
- Process prescriptions, including translating SIG codes, selecting products, counting, labeling, and resolving third-party rejections.
- Counsel patients under the direct supervision of a licensed pharmacist.
- Manage inventory, replenish stock, and assist with store operational meetings.
- Deliver additional health care services, such as testing and immunizations, as permitted by state regulation.
- Support the pharmacy manager in motivating staff, identifying business opportunities, and adapting to changes in the pharmacy workflow.
- Greet customers in a professional manner and assist with their questions or concerns.
What you'll need#
- You must be a foreign graduate from a non-US accredited college or school of pharmacy.
- You must have passed the FPGEE and TOEFL exams.
- You must hold an active pharmacy intern license in Wisconsin.
- Strong skills in communication, patient counseling, emotional intelligence, and time management.
- Proficiency in digital literacy and results-oriented problem solving.
- Ability to work a schedule that includes nights and weekends.
- Physical ability to lift and exert up to 20 lbs of force occasionally, up to 10 lbs frequently, and move objects including overhead lifting.
