About the role#
This internship program is designed for foreign pharmacy graduates to complete their required US internship hours. You will work under the direct supervision of a licensed pharmacist to develop your professional knowledge and skills. The goal is to prepare you for pharmacist licensure exams and processes. You must complete the internship within 18 months and obtain state licensure within 120 days of finishing your hours.
What you'll do#
- Practice and develop pharmacist duties under supervision to ensure a safe and effective retail pharmacy environment.
- Process prescriptions, including translation of SIG codes, product selection, and labeling.
- Resolve third-party rejections and complete manual claim forms.
- Counsel patients under the direct supervision of a licensed pharmacist.
- Support the pharmacy manager in motivating and developing support staff.
- Identify business opportunities to drive pharmacy growth and improve performance.
- Greet customers, answer questions, and perform register transactions.
- Perform regulatory compliance, quality assurance, and inventory management tasks.
What you'll need#
- Doctorate (PharmD) or equivalent pharmacist degree from a non-US accredited school of pharmacy.
- High School Diploma or GED.
- Active pharmacy intern license in the state where the district is located.
- Must have passed the FPGEE and TOEFL.
- Strong communication, presentation, active listening, and emotional intelligence skills.
- Ability to work nights and weekends.
- Ability to lift and exert up to 20 lbs. of force occasionally and 10 lbs. frequently.
