About the role#
This internship provides a structured path for foreign-trained pharmacy graduates to complete required US internship hours. You will work under the direct supervision of a licensed pharmacist to develop the knowledge and skills necessary for US licensure. The program requires completion of all internship hours within 18 months and successful attainment of pharmacist licensure within 120 days of finishing those hours.
What you'll do#
- Ensure a safe and effective pharmacy environment while delivering patient care.
- Process prescriptions, including translating SIG codes, selecting products, counting drugs, and labeling.
- Resolve third-party rejections and manage prescription pick-up procedures.
- Counsel patients under the direct supervision of a licensed pharmacist.
- Support the pharmacy manager in developing support staff and identifying business growth opportunities.
- Perform register transactions and assist customers with inquiries in a professional manner.
- Maintain inventory levels and adhere to all federal and state regulatory requirements.
- Deliver health care services, including immunizations and point-of-care testing, as permitted by state regulation.
- Maintain patient confidentiality in compliance with HIPAA.
What you'll need#
- A degree from a non-US accredited college or school of pharmacy.
- Successful completion of the FPGEE and TOEFL exams.
- An active Pharmacy Intern license in the state where the district is located.
- Strong communication, presentation, and active listening skills.
- Proficiency in time management, emotional intelligence, and conflict resolution.
- Ability to work a flexible schedule, including nights and weekends.
- Physical ability to lift and exert up to 20 lbs. of force occasionally and 10 lbs. frequently.
- Digital literacy, with preference given to those proficient in the Microsoft Office Suite.
- Eligibility to immunize.
