About the role#
As an International Pharmacy Intern, you will complete the required US internship hours to build upon your existing pharmacy education. This role is designed for foreign-educated pharmacists to develop the knowledge and skills necessary for US licensure. You will work under the direct supervision of a licensed pharmacist to provide patient care and support pharmacy operations. Please note that you must complete your internship within 18 months and obtain your pharmacist license within 120 days of completing your hours.
What you'll do#
- Ensure a safe and effective pharmacy environment while delivering exceptional patient care.
- Manage patient care programs and assist with health services, including testing and immunizations.
- Process prescriptions, including the translation of SIG codes and product selection.
- Resolve third-party rejections and maintain inventory levels.
- Greet customers, assist with questions, and perform register transactions.
- Support the pharmacy manager in developing support staff and identifying opportunities to drive growth.
- Maintain HIPAA compliance and adhere to all regulatory standards.
- Participate in store operational meetings and complete all required training programs.
- Counsel patients under the direct supervision of a licensed pharmacist.
What you'll need#
- Doctorate (PharmD) or equivalent degree from a non-US accredited school of pharmacy.
- Successful completion of the FPGEE and TOEFL exams.
- Active Pharmacy Intern license in Alabama.
- High school diploma or GED.
- Strong communication, active listening, and presentation skills.
- Ability to work a flexible schedule, including nights and weekends.
- Capacity to lift and exert up to 20 lbs of force occasionally.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite is preferred.
- Skills in emotional intelligence, time management, and conflict resolution.
