About the role#
As a Non-US Accredited Foreign Graduate, you will complete your required US internship hours to build upon your existing pharmacist education. This role is designed to develop your knowledge, skills, and abilities in a retail pharmacy setting. You will work under the direct supervision of a licensed pharmacist to ensure a safe, effective environment and deliver care to patients. You are required to complete your internship within 18 months and must obtain pharmacist licensure in your state within 120 days of completing your required hours.
What you'll do#
- Deliver exceptional care to patients and greet customers in a professional manner.
- Support the pharmacy manager in motivating and developing pharmacy support staff.
- Process prescriptions, including translating SIG codes and resolving third-party rejections.
- Perform register transactions and maintain in-stock inventory levels.
- Maintain patient confidentiality according to HIPAA standards.
- Deliver health care services such as point-of-care testing and immunizations when state regulations allow.
- Counsel patients under the direct supervision of a licensed pharmacist.
What you'll need#
- Doctorate (PharmD) or equivalent degree from a non-US accredited school of pharmacy.
- Successful completion of the FPGEE and TOEFL exams.
- Active pharmacy intern license in the state where the district is located.
- High School Diploma or GED.
- Strong communication and presentation skills.
- Ability to work a schedule that includes nights and weekends.
- Physical ability to lift and exert up to 20 lbs. of force occasionally and 10 lbs. frequently.
- Ability to immunize once state regulations are met is preferred.
