About the role#
As a foreign pharmacy graduate, you will complete your required US internship hours to prepare for a career as a pharmacist. This program provides a structured path to apply your education to real-world pharmacy practice under the guidance of a preceptor. You are expected to finish your internship within 18 months and secure pharmacist licensure in your state within 120 days of completing those hours.
What you'll do#
- Follow pharmacy workflow procedures at all workstations, including production, pick-up, drive-thru, and drop-off.
- Offer to counsel patients and field medical questions under the supervision of a licensed pharmacist.
- Take telephonic prescriptions from prescribers and clarify medication details.
- Provide coaching, training, and mentoring to pharmacy team members.
- Complete basic inventory activities like cycle counts and processing medication deliveries.
- Participate in pharmacy practice and patient care scenarios to build business and clinical acumen.
- Provide patient immunizations and monitor for adverse reactions where allowed by law.
What you'll need#
- Graduation from a non-US accredited college or school of pharmacy.
- FPGEC certification.
- Successful completion of the FPGEE and TOEFL exams.
- Possession of, or progress toward, valid intern or technician licensure.
- Ability to obtain pharmacist licensure within 120 days of finishing internship hours.
- 1+ years of work experience in pharmacy, retail, medical, or customer service is preferred.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Suite is preferred.
- Ability to become immunization certified is preferred.
