About the role#
As an International Pharmacy Intern, you will complete your required US internship hours while working in a retail pharmacy setting. This role is designed for foreign graduates to build upon their existing pharmacist education, develop professional skills, and prepare for US pharmacist licensure. You will work under the direct supervision of a licensed pharmacist to provide patient care and support pharmacy operations. This is a full-time, on-site position based in Zanesville, Ohio.
What you'll do#
- Ensure a safe and effective pharmacy work environment.
- Greet customers, assist with questions, and perform register transactions.
- Process prescriptions, including data entry, product selection, and labeling.
- Resolve third-party rejections and manage pharmacy inventory.
- Counsel patients under the direct supervision of a licensed pharmacist.
- Support the pharmacy manager in developing support staff and managing patient care programs.
- Maintain patient confidentiality and comply with all federal and state regulations.
- Deliver additional health care services as allowable, such as immunizations.
What you'll need#
- Doctorate (PharmD) or equivalent degree from a non-US accredited school of pharmacy.
- High school diploma or GED.
- Active pharmacy intern license in the state of Ohio.
- Strong communication and presentation skills.
- Ability to lift and exert up to 20 lbs. of force occasionally and 10 lbs. frequently.
- Commitment to obtaining pharmacist licensure in the state within 120 days of completing US intern hours.
- Eligibility to immunize is preferred.
