About the role#
This position is for foreign-trained pharmacists looking to complete their required US internship hours. You will work under the direct supervision of a licensed pharmacist to gain the knowledge and skills necessary for US licensure. This is a full-time, on-site role that requires completion of internship hours within 18 months. You must also obtain your pharmacist license within 120 days of finishing your required hours.
What you'll do#
- Ensure a safe and effective pharmacy environment while following all federal and state regulations.
- Greet customers, assist with questions, and manage register transactions.
- Process prescriptions, including SIG code translation, product selection, and labeling.
- Resolve third-party rejections and maintain inventory levels.
- Deliver health care services such as immunizations and testing.
- Counsel patients under the direct supervision of a licensed pharmacist.
- Support the pharmacy manager in training and developing support staff.
- Maintain patient confidentiality according to HIPAA standards.
- Participate in store operational meetings and maintain a clean, organized department.
What you'll need#
- Doctorate (PharmD) or equivalent degree from a non-US accredited school of pharmacy.
- High School Diploma or GED.
- Active Pharmacy Intern license in the state of Illinois.
- Eligibility to immunize.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
- Strong communication and presentation skills.
- Ability to maintain regular attendance, including nights and weekends.
- Ability to lift and exert up to 20 lbs. of force occasionally and 10 lbs. frequently.
