About the role#
This internship program is designed for foreign pharmacy graduates to complete required US internship hours. You will work under the direct supervision of a licensed pharmacist to develop your skills and prepare for US pharmacist licensure. The program requires completion of all internship hours within 18 months, followed by obtaining pharmacist licensure within 120 days of completion.
What you'll do#
- Ensure a safe and effective retail pharmacy environment while delivering patient care.
- Process prescriptions, including translating SIG codes, selecting products, counting drugs, and labeling.
- Counsel patients under the direct supervision of a licensed pharmacist.
- Resolve third-party rejections and manage inventory.
- Greet customers and perform register transactions with professionalism.
- Support the pharmacy manager in developing staff and identifying business opportunities.
- Maintain patient confidentiality in compliance with HIPAA.
- Deliver health care services such as immunizations, as permitted by state regulation.
- Coordinate training for pharmacy support staff and maintain a clean, organized department.
What you'll need#
- A degree from a non-US accredited college or school of pharmacy.
- Successful completion of the FPGEE and TOEFL.
- An active Pharmacy Intern license in the state where the district is located.
- Strong communication, active listening, and presentation skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
- Eligibility to immunize.
- Ability to work a schedule that includes nights and weekends.
- Ability to lift and exert up to 20 lbs. of force occasionally.
- Competencies in emotional intelligence, time management, and conflict resolution.
