About the role#
This internship provides international pharmacy graduates the opportunity to complete required US internship hours. You will work under the direct supervision of a licensed pharmacist to gain experience in retail pharmacy operations. The program is designed to help you develop the knowledge and skills necessary to pass pharmacist licensure exams. You must complete your internship within 18 months and obtain state pharmacist licensure within 120 days of finishing your required hours.
What you'll do#
- Ensure a safe and effective retail pharmacy environment while delivering patient care.
- Process prescriptions, including translating SIG codes, labeling, and managing drug inventory.
- Resolve third-party rejections and complete claim forms.
- Greet customers, assist with pharmacy questions, and perform register transactions.
- Support the pharmacy manager in motivating and developing pharmacy support staff.
- Maintain patient confidentiality in compliance with HIPAA.
- Counsel patients under the direct supervision of a licensed pharmacist.
- Participate in store operational meetings and support compliance monitoring.
What you'll need#
- Doctorate (PharmD) or equivalent degree from a non-US accredited school of pharmacy.
- Successful completion of FPGEE and TOEFL exams.
- Active pharmacy intern license in the state where the district is located.
- High School Diploma or GED.
- Strong communication and presentation skills.
- Ability to maintain regular attendance, including nights and weekends.
- Physical ability to lift and exert up to 20 lbs occasionally and 10 lbs frequently.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite is preferred.
- Eligibility to immunize is preferred.
