About the role#
This internship is designed for foreign-trained pharmacists to complete their required US internship hours. You will work under the direct supervision of a licensed pharmacist to gain hands-on experience in a retail pharmacy setting. The program requires you to complete your internship within 18 months and obtain pharmacist licensure within 120 days of finishing your required hours.
What you'll do#
- Deliver exceptional care to patients and adopt patient care programs.
- Ensure a safe and effective pharmacy environment.
- Process prescriptions, translate SIG codes, and resolve third-party rejections.
- Counsel patients under the supervision of a licensed pharmacist.
- Greet customers, answer questions, and perform register transactions.
- Support the pharmacy manager in developing staff and identifying business opportunities to drive growth.
- Interact with other healthcare professionals to provide optimal patient care.
- Maintain inventory management policies and pharmacy standards.
What you'll need#
- Doctorate (PharmD) or equivalent degree from a non-US accredited school of pharmacy.
- Successful completion of the Foreign Pharmacy Graduate Equivalency Examination (FPGEE) and the Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL).
- Active pharmacy intern license in Kentucky.
- High School Diploma or GED.
- Strong communication and presentation skills.
- Ability to maintain regular attendance, including nights and weekends.
- Ability to lift and exert up to 20 lbs occasionally and 10 lbs frequently.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and eligibility to immunize are preferred.
