About the role#
This internship provides foreign pharmacy graduates the opportunity to complete required US internship hours. You will work under the direct supervision of a licensed pharmacist to develop your professional knowledge, skills, and abilities. This role is designed to prepare you for pharmacist licensure exams and processes. You are expected to complete your internship within 18 months and obtain pharmacist licensure within 120 days of finishing your required hours.
What you'll do#
- Ensure a safe and effective retail pharmacy environment while delivering patient care.
- Greet customers in a courteous and professional manner at the store and drive-thru.
- Process prescriptions, including translating SIG codes, product selection, and labeling.
- Resolve third-party rejections and maintain accurate in-stock inventory.
- Deliver healthcare services such as immunizations and testing as permitted by regulation.
- Counsel patients under the direct supervision of a licensed pharmacist.
- Manage and adopt patient care programs to support healthy outcomes.
- Support the pharmacy manager in motivating and developing pharmacy support staff.
- Maintain customer and patient confidentiality in accordance with HIPAA.
- Identify business opportunities to improve pharmacy performance and growth.
What you'll need#
- Doctorate (PharmD) or equivalent pharmacist degree from a non-US accredited school of pharmacy.
- Successful completion of the FPGEE and TOEFL exams.
- Active Pharmacy Intern license in the state where the district is located.
- High School Diploma or GED.
- Strong communication and presentation skills.
- Ability to work nights and weekends.
- Ability to lift and exert up to 20 lbs of force occasionally.
