About the role#
This internship provides foreign-trained pharmacists the opportunity to complete required US internship hours in a retail pharmacy setting. You will work under the direct supervision of a licensed pharmacist to gain hands-on experience in patient care, pharmacy operations, and leadership. The program requires completion of all internship hours within 18 months and attainment of pharmacist licensure within 120 days of finishing those hours.
What you'll do#
- Ensure a safe and effective pharmacy environment while adhering to regulatory requirements and quality assurance standards.
- Process prescriptions, including translating SIG codes, selecting products, counting, measuring, labeling, and capping.
- Resolve third-party rejections and manage manual claim forms.
- Counsel patients under the direct supervision of a licensed pharmacist.
- Manage inventory and maintain a clean, organized department.
- Support the pharmacy manager in training, developing, and motivating pharmacy support staff.
- Adopt and manage patient care programs to improve patient outcomes.
- Identify business opportunities to drive growth and improve pharmacy performance.
What you'll need#
- A Doctorate (PharmD) or equivalent degree from a non-US accredited school of pharmacy.
- Successful completion of the FPGEE and TOEFL exams.
- An active Pharmacy Intern license in the state of Tennessee.
- High School Diploma or GED.
- Strong communication and presentation skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
- Eligibility to immunize.
- Ability to maintain regular attendance, including nights and weekends.
- Ability to lift and move up to 20 lbs occasionally and up to 10 lbs frequently.
