About the role#
This internship provides a path for foreign-trained pharmacists to complete their required US internship hours. You will work under the direct supervision of a licensed pharmacist to gain the knowledge and skills necessary for US licensure. The program requires completion of all internship hours within 18 months and successful attainment of pharmacist licensure within 120 days of finishing those hours.
What you'll do#
- Ensure a safe and effective pharmacy environment by managing patient safety, regulatory compliance, and quality assurance.
- Process prescriptions, including translating SIG codes, selecting products, and counting or measuring medication.
- Counsel patients under the direct supervision of a licensed pharmacist and communicate with other healthcare professionals.
- Assist customers with questions, manage inventory, and resolve third-party insurance rejections.
- Support the pharmacy manager in motivating and developing support staff.
- Lead patient care programs and identify opportunities to improve pharmacy performance.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and professional department while facilitating a positive team culture.
What you'll need#
- Doctorate (PharmD) or equivalent degree from a non-US accredited school of pharmacy.
- Successful completion of the FPGEE and TOEFL exams.
- Active pharmacy intern license in California.
- High School Diploma or GED.
- Strong communication skills, emotional intelligence, and time management abilities.
- Ability to work a flexible schedule, including nights and weekends.
- Physical ability to lift up to 20 lbs occasionally and 10 lbs frequently.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite is preferred.
- Eligibility to immunize is preferred.
