About the role#
As an International Pharmacy Intern, you will complete your required US internship hours while applying your pharmacy education to real-world practice. This role is designed to prepare you for a future position as a Pharmacist. You will work under the direction of a preceptor, following a structured learning plan to develop your clinical and leadership skills. You must complete your internship within 18 months and obtain pharmacist licensure in the state of your practice within 120 days of finishing your required hours.
What you'll do#
- Follow pharmacy workflow procedures at all workstations to ensure safe and accurate prescription fulfillment.
- Provide caring service to patients, including empathy and support during pick-up, drive-thru, and phone interactions.
- Offer to counsel patients and field medical questions under the direct supervision of a licensed pharmacist.
- Take telephonic prescriptions from prescribers and clarify medication details.
- Perform inventory tasks such as cycle counts, returns-to-stock, and processing deliveries.
- Coach and mentor pharmacy team members to share best practices.
- Deliver patient health care services, including immunizations and point-of-care testing, where permitted by law.
- Educate patients on the importance of vaccines and monitor for adverse reactions.
What you'll need#
- Graduation from a non-US accredited college or school of pharmacy.
- FPGEC certification.
- Valid intern or technician licensure, or be in the process of obtaining it.
- 1+ years of related work experience in a pharmacy, retail, medical, or customer service setting.
- Ability to become immunization certified.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Suite.
