About the role#
This internship program is designed for foreign pharmacy graduates to complete their required US internship hours. You will apply your pharmacy school education to real-world practice while preparing for a pharmacist role. You will work under the direction of a preceptor to complete a mixed-modality learning plan. Interns must complete their required hours within 18 months and obtain pharmacist licensure in the state of practice within 120 days of finishing their hours.
What you'll do#
- Operate as part of the pharmacy team by following standard operating procedures.
- Assist with workflow procedures at production, pick-up, drive-thru, and drop-off stations.
- Counsel patients, field medical questions, and solicit medical history under pharmacist supervision.
- Take telephonic prescriptions from prescribers and clarify medication details.
- Perform basic inventory activities such as cycle counts and returns.
- Deliver patient health care services, including immunizations and point-of-care testing, where permitted by law.
- Provide coaching, training, and mentoring to pharmacy team members.
- Travel to other stores in the market to work shifts as needed.
What you'll need#
- Graduation from a non-US accredited college or school of pharmacy.
- FPGEC certification.
- Valid intern or technician licensure, or be in the process of obtaining one.
- At least 1 year of related work experience in pharmacy, retail, medical, or customer service settings.
- Ability to become immunization certified.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Suite, including Outlook, Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
- Ability to maintain regular attendance, including nights and weekends.
