About the role#
This internship provides a structured path for foreign-trained pharmacists to complete required US internship hours. You will work under the direct supervision of a licensed pharmacist in a retail setting. The goal is to build your clinical knowledge and prepare you to pass all required pharmacist licensure exams. You must complete your internship hours within 18 months and obtain your pharmacist license within 120 days of completing those hours.
What you'll do#
- Ensure a safe and effective pharmacy environment while delivering patient care.
- Greet customers, answer questions, and perform register transactions.
- Process prescriptions, including translating SIG codes and labeling.
- Resolve third-party insurance rejections and manage pharmacy inventory.
- Counsel patients under the direct supervision of a licensed pharmacist.
- Deliver health services, including immunizations and point-of-care testing, where permitted by law.
- Maintain patient confidentiality in compliance with HIPAA standards.
- Support the pharmacy manager in developing and motivating support staff.
What you'll need#
- A Doctorate (PharmD) or equivalent degree from a non-US accredited school of pharmacy.
- An active Pharmacy Intern license in the state where the district is located.
- Successful completion of the FPGEE and TOEFL exams.
- A High School Diploma or GED.
- Strong communication and presentation skills.
- Ability to maintain a regular and predictable schedule, including nights and weekends.
- Ability to lift and exert up to 20 lbs. of force occasionally and 10 lbs. frequently.
