About the role#
This internship program is designed for foreign-trained pharmacy graduates to complete their required US internship hours. You will participate in a mixed modality learning plan under the direction of a preceptor to prepare for a future pharmacist role. The program requires you to complete your internship within 18 months and obtain pharmacist licensure in the state of practice within 120 days of finishing your required hours.
What you'll do#
- Assist the pharmacy team to ensure operations run smoothly and prescriptions are filled safely and accurately.
- Follow company standard operating procedures at every workstation.
- Provide caring service to patients, including fielding medical questions and offering to counsel under pharmacist supervision.
- Take telephonic prescriptions and clarify details with prescribers.
- Manage basic inventory activities like cycle counts and medication deliveries.
- Provide coaching, training, and mentoring to other pharmacy team members.
- Deliver patient health care services, including immunizations, where permitted by law.
- Support technician immunizer status tasks, including patient education and documentation.
What you'll need#
- Foreign graduate degree from a non-US accredited college or school of pharmacy.
- FPGEC certification.
- Valid intern or technician licensure, or be in the process of obtaining it.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Suite.
- 1+ years of related work experience in pharmacy, retail, medical, or customer service settings is preferred.
- Ability to become immunization certified.
