About the role#
This internship provides foreign pharmacy graduates with the opportunity to complete required US internship hours in a retail pharmacy setting. You will work under the direct supervision of a licensed pharmacist to gain hands-on experience in patient care, practice management, and pharmacy operations. The program is designed to prepare you for pharmacist licensure exams and processes. You must complete your required US internship hours within 18 months and obtain pharmacist licensure in the state within 120 days of completing those hours.
What you'll do#
- Ensure a safe and effective pharmacy environment while adhering to HIPAA and company standards.
- Process prescriptions, including translating SIG codes, labeling, and managing product selection.
- Resolve third-party rejections and complete manual claim forms.
- Perform prescription pick-up procedures and manage inventory replenishment.
- Offer to counsel patients and direct them to the pharmacist as needed.
- Communicate and interact with other healthcare professionals to provide optimal care.
- Support the supervising pharmacist in dispensing drugs and monitoring compliance.
- Coordinate and implement training and development for pharmacy support staff.
- Participate in store operational meetings and support pharmacy workflow.
What you'll need#
- Graduation from a non-US accredited college or school of pharmacy.
- An active Pharmacy Intern license in the state where the district is located.
- Successful completion of the FPGEE and TOEFL exams.
- Strong communication and presentation skills.
- Ability to maintain regular attendance, including nights and weekends.
- Ability to lift and exert up to 20 lbs of force occasionally.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite is preferred.
- Eligibility to immunize is preferred.
