About the role#
As an International Pharmacy Intern, you will complete your required US internship hours while developing the knowledge and skills necessary for a career as a pharmacist. This role is designed for foreign-trained graduates to gain practical experience within a retail pharmacy environment. You will work under the direct supervision of a licensed pharmacist to ensure safe, effective patient care and pharmacy operations.
What you'll do#
- Complete all required US internship hours within an 18-month timeframe.
- Manage pharmacy workflow, inventory, and regulatory compliance.
- Process prescriptions, including translation of SIG codes and product selection.
- Resolve third-party rejections and perform register transactions.
- Counsel patients under the direct supervision of a pharmacist.
- Support immunization preparation and delivery.
- Assist the pharmacy manager in motivating and developing support staff.
- Identify business opportunities to improve pharmacy performance and patient outcomes.
- Maintain HIPAA compliance and ensure a clean, professional pharmacy environment.
What you'll need#
- A Doctorate (PharmD) or equivalent degree from a non-US accredited school of pharmacy.
- An active Pharmacy Intern license in the state where the district is located.
- Successful completion of the FPGEE and TOEFL exams.
- Ability to obtain pharmacist licensure in the state within 120 days of completing internship hours.
- Strong communication, active listening, and time management skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite is preferred.
- Eligibility to immunize is preferred.
- Ability to work nights and weekends.
- High School Diploma or GED.
- Ability to lift and move objects up to 20 lbs occasionally.
