About the role#
This internship provides a path for foreign-trained pharmacy graduates to complete their required US internship hours. You will work in a retail pharmacy setting under the direct supervision of a licensed pharmacist to build your professional knowledge and skills. The program requires completion of all internship hours within 18 months and obtaining state pharmacist licensure within 120 days of finishing those hours.
What you'll do#
- Ensure a safe and effective pharmacy environment while delivering patient care.
- Perform duties including patient safety, regulatory compliance, quality assurance, inventory management, and workflow management.
- Process prescriptions, resolve third-party rejections, and counsel customers under pharmacist supervision.
- Deliver health care services such as point-of-care testing and immunizations where state regulations allow.
- Adopt and manage patient care programs to support customer health.
- Support the pharmacy manager in motivating and developing support staff.
- Identify business opportunities and implement solutions to improve pharmacy performance.
What you'll need#
- Graduation from a non-US accredited college or school of pharmacy.
- An active Pharmacy Intern license in the state where the district is located.
- Successful completion of the FPGEE and TOEFL exams.
- Strong communication and presentation skills.
- Ability to lift and exert up to 20 lbs. of force occasionally, up to 10 lbs. frequently, and a negligible amount regularly.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite is preferred.
- Eligibility to immunize is preferred.
