About the role#
This is a full-time, on-site internship for foreign pharmacy graduates looking to complete their required US internship hours. You will work under the direct supervision of a licensed pharmacist to gain the knowledge and skills necessary to become a licensed pharmacist in the United States. You are expected to complete your internship within 18 months and obtain pharmacist licensure within 120 days of finishing your required hours.
What you'll do#
- Ensure a safe and effective retail pharmacy environment while maintaining patient confidentiality according to HIPAA.
- Process prescriptions, including translating SIG codes, selecting products, labeling, and resolving third-party rejections.
- Perform health care services, such as point-of-care testing and immunizations, as permitted by state regulation.
- Counsel customers and field medical questions under the direct supervision of a pharmacist.
- Manage pharmacy inventory, assist with drug orders, and maintain store standards.
- Greet customers, assist with questions, and perform register transactions.
- Support the pharmacy manager in motivating and developing staff, identifying business opportunities, and implementing solutions.
- Participate in store operational meetings and support overall team performance.
What you'll need#
- A Doctorate (PharmD) or equivalent pharmacist degree from a non-US accredited school of pharmacy.
- Successful completion of the FPGEE and TOEFL examinations.
- An active pharmacy intern license in the state where the district is located.
- A High School Diploma or GED.
- Strong communication and presentation skills.
- The ability to maintain regular and predictable attendance, including nights and weekends.
- The physical ability to lift and exert up to 20 lbs. of force occasionally and up to 10 lbs. of force frequently.
