About the role#
As an International Pharmacy Intern, you will complete your required US internship hours while working under the direct supervision of a licensed pharmacist. This role is designed for foreign pharmacy graduates to build the knowledge and skills necessary to pursue pharmacist licensure. You will participate in a mixed modality learning plan and are expected to complete your internship within 18 months. You must obtain your pharmacist license within 120 days of completing your required internship hours.
What you'll do#
- Ensure a safe and effective retail pharmacy environment while maintaining regulatory compliance and HIPAA standards.
- Provide patient care and pharmacy services, including immunization preparation or delivery and point-of-care testing.
- Perform professional practice tasks such as processing prescriptions, translating SIG codes, and resolving third-party rejections.
- Manage pharmacy operations, including inventory, workflow, and register transactions.
- Support the pharmacy manager in developing support staff and identifying business opportunities to drive growth.
- Engage with customers to provide assistance and maintain high service standards.
What you'll need#
- A degree from a non-US accredited college or school of pharmacy.
- An active pharmacy intern license in the state of Illinois.
- Successful completion of the FPGEE and TOEFL exams.
- Strong communication, emotional intelligence, and time management skills.
- Ability to work a flexible schedule, including nights and weekends.
- Physical ability to lift and exert up to 20 lbs. of force occasionally and up to 10 lbs. frequently.
- Proficiency in the Microsoft Office Suite.
