About the role#
This internship program is designed for foreign pharmacy graduates to complete required US internship hours and apply didactic learning in a real-world setting. You will work under the direction of a preceptor to develop the knowledge and skills necessary to transition into a pharmacist role. The program requires completion of internship hours within 18 months and attainment of pharmacist licensure within 120 days of completing those hours.
What you'll do#
- Follow pharmacy workflow procedures at each workstation, including production, pick-up, drive-thru, and drop-off.
- Contribute to positive patient experiences by showing empathy and care.
- Offer to counsel and field medical questions under the supervision of a licensed pharmacist.
- Take telephonic prescriptions from prescribers and clarify medication details.
- Complete basic inventory activities such as cycle counts and stocking medication deliveries.
- Ensure pharmacy operations run smoothly and safely.
- Perform patient health care services, including immunizations, where permitted by law.
- Participate in pharmacy practice and patient care scenarios.
- Complete a mixed modality learning plan to build clinical and technical knowledge.
What you'll need#
- Graduation from a non-US accredited college or school of pharmacy.
- FPGEC certification.
- Valid intern or technician licensure, or be in the process of obtaining one.
- Ability to obtain pharmacist licensure in New York within 120 days of completing US intern hours.
- 1+ years of related work experience in pharmacy, retail, medical, or customer service settings.
- Ability to become immunization certified.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Suite.
