About the role#
This internship program is designed for foreign pharmacy graduates from non-US accredited schools to complete their required US internship hours. You will work under the direction of a preceptor to apply your education to real-world practice. The goal is to prepare you for a pharmacist role through a structured learning plan, hands-on experience, and training modules. You must complete your internship within 18 months and obtain pharmacist licensure in Louisiana within 120 days of finishing your required hours.
What you'll do#
- Support pharmacy teams in the safe and accurate fulfillment of prescriptions.
- Follow pharmacy workflow procedures at production, pick-up, drive-thru, and drop-off stations.
- Provide caring service to patients, including fielding medical questions and offering counseling under the supervision of a licensed pharmacist.
- Take telephonic prescriptions and clarify details with prescribers.
- Perform inventory activities such as cycle counts, returns, and stocking deliveries.
- Offer immunizations and other health services where permitted by law.
- Provide coaching and training to pharmacy team members.
- Maintain patient privacy and security while complying with all federal, state, and local laws.
- Attend and participate in pharmacy practice scenarios and training modules.
What you'll need#
- Graduation from a non-US accredited college or school of pharmacy.
- Successful completion of the FPGEE and TOEFL exams.
- Possession of, or active progress toward, a valid intern or technician license.
- Ability to obtain pharmacist licensure in Louisiana within 120 days of completing intern hours.
- Flexibility to work nights and weekends as required by business needs.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Suite is preferred.
- At least 1 year of related work experience in pharmacy, retail, medical, or customer service is preferred.
- Ability to become immunization certified is preferred.
