About the role#
This position is designed for foreign-educated pharmacy graduates to complete their required US internship hours. You will work under the direction of a preceptor to apply your clinical knowledge in a real-world pharmacy setting. This is a full-time, on-site role that serves as a pathway to becoming a licensed pharmacist. You are expected to complete your internship within 18 months and obtain pharmacist licensure in West Virginia within 120 days of finishing your required hours.
What you'll do#
- Follow company SOPs and pharmacy workflow procedures for prescription fulfillment at all workstations.
- Provide patient care by showing empathy, fielding medical questions under supervision, and taking telephonic prescriptions from prescribers.
- Coach, train, and mentor pharmacy team members to contribute to a high-performing team.
- Perform inventory activities such as cycle counts, returns-to-stock, and managing medication deliveries.
- Deliver additional health care services, including immunizations, point-of-care testing, and staffing offsite clinics where permitted.
- Obtain Technician Immunizer status to prepare and administer vaccines, educate patients, and monitor for adverse reactions.
- Comply with all federal, state, and local laws, as well as company policies regarding patient privacy and safety.
- Maintain flexibility for scheduling, including nights and weekends, and travel to other store locations as needed.
What you'll need#
- Graduation from a non-US accredited college or school of pharmacy.
- FPGEC certification.
- Must possess or be in the process of obtaining valid intern or technician licensure as required.
- 1+ years of related work experience in pharmacy, retail, medical, or customer service settings.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Suite.
- Ability to become immunization certified.
- Capability to meet physical demands, including standing for extended periods, lifting up to 20 lbs, and performing repetitive tasks.
