About the role#
This internship provides foreign-trained pharmacists the opportunity to complete required US internship hours. You will work under the direct supervision of a licensed pharmacist to build your professional knowledge and skills. The program requires completion of all internship hours within 18 months and successful attainment of pharmacist licensure within 120 days of finishing those hours.
What you'll do#
- Complete required US internship hours and maintain a safe, effective pharmacy environment.
- Process prescriptions, including the translation of SIG codes, labeling, and resolving third-party rejections.
- Perform register transactions and assist customers with questions or concerns.
- Counsel patients under the direct supervision of a licensed pharmacist.
- Adopt and manage patient care programs while providing immunizations once state regulations are met.
- Support the pharmacy manager in motivating and developing support staff.
- Identify business opportunities to drive growth and improve pharmacy performance.
- Ensure regulatory compliance and maintain patient confidentiality.
- Manage pharmacy inventory and workflow to meet operational standards.
What you'll need#
- Doctorate (PharmD) or equivalent degree from a non-US accredited school of pharmacy.
- Successful completion of the FPGEE and TOEFL.
- Active pharmacy intern license in the state where the district is located.
- High school diploma or GED.
- Strong communication and presentation skills.
- Ability to work a schedule that includes nights and weekends.
- Ability to lift and exert up to 20 lbs. of force occasionally and up to 10 lbs. frequently.
- Eligibility to immunize and proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite are preferred.
