About the role#
This internship provides foreign-trained pharmacists the opportunity to complete required US internship hours. You will work under the direct supervision of a licensed pharmacist to develop the knowledge and skills necessary for US licensure. Participants must complete their internship within 18 months and meet all pharmacist licensure requirements within 120 days of finishing their hours.
What you'll do#
- Ensure a safe and effective pharmacy environment while maintaining patient confidentiality.
- Support the pharmacy manager in developing staff and identifying business opportunities.
- Facilitate a team culture focused on caring and professional service.
- Greet customers and assist with inquiries at the counter and drive-thru.
- Process prescriptions, including SIG code translation, drug selection, counting, and labeling.
- Manage inventory, resolve third-party rejections, and complete manual claim forms.
- Assist with drug orders and perform point-of-care testing or immunization preparation.
- Counsel patients under the direct supervision of a licensed pharmacist.
- Participate in operational meetings and complete all required training programs.
What you'll need#
- Doctorate (PharmD) or equivalent degree from a non-US accredited pharmacy school.
- Active pharmacy intern license in California.
- Successful completion of the FPGEE and TOEFL exams.
- High School Diploma or GED.
- Strong communication, active listening, and emotional intelligence.
- Ability to work a schedule that includes nights and weekends.
- Physical ability to lift and exert up to 20 lbs occasionally and 10 lbs frequently.
- Proficiency in time management and digital literacy.
