About the role#
This internship provides foreign pharmacy graduates the opportunity to complete required US internship hours while building on their existing education. You will work under the direct supervision of a licensed pharmacist to gain experience in patient care, practice management, and leadership. This role requires the completion of all internship hours within 18 months and obtaining state pharmacist licensure within 120 days of finishing those hours.
What you'll do#
- Complete required US internship hours and participate in a mixed-modality learning plan.
- Ensure a safe and effective retail pharmacy environment while maintaining HIPAA compliance.
- Process prescriptions, including translating SIG codes, selecting products, and resolving third-party rejections.
- Counsel patients under direct supervision and communicate with other healthcare professionals.
- Perform register transactions and handle prescription pick-up procedures.
- Manage pharmacy inventory and support the pharmacy manager in developing support staff.
- Identify business opportunities to improve performance and participate in store operational meetings.
- Adopt and manage patient care programs to support customer health.
What you'll need#
- A Doctorate (PharmD) or equivalent degree from a non-US accredited school of pharmacy.
- Successful completion of both the FPGEE and TOEFL exams.
- An active pharmacy intern license in the state where the district is located.
- A high school diploma or GED.
- Strong communication, active listening, and presentation skills.
- Proficiency in emotional intelligence, time management, and digital literacy.
- Ability to work nights and weekends and lift up to 20 lbs occasionally.
- Commitment to obtaining pharmacist licensure in the state of practice within 120 days of completing internship hours.
