About the role#
This is a three-week virtual externship program for college students interested in the insurance industry. The program introduces the fundamentals of underwriting, risk analysis, and pricing strategies. Participants gain exposure to the role of an underwriter and the Aetna underwriting organization. This is an unpaid educational experience. Completing the program provides priority status for the 2028 Summer Corporate Underwriting Internship Program recruiting season.
What you'll do#
- Attend virtual training sessions led by industry experts.
- Participate in case studies to analyze risks and make underwriting decisions.
- Collaborate with peers to present recommendations.
- Engage in professional development sessions to build skills in communication and decision-making.
- Connect with company leaders and underwriters through networking opportunities.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in an undergraduate program with sophomore standing.
- Graduation date between December 2028 and May 2029.
- A computer with a reliable internet connection for virtual sessions.
- Availability for all program dates: January 26-28, February 2-4, and February 9-11.
- Strong analytical skills and attention to detail.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Curiosity about the insurance industry and a desire to learn about risk analysis.
- Preferred majors include Mathematics, Statistics, Economics, Business Administration, or related fields.
Location & details#
- This program is fully remote.
- Sessions take place on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays from 3:00 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. ET.
- This is an unpaid externship and does not include benefits.
