- Run electrochemical tests and maintain accurate records.
- Support R&D on electrodes, membranes, and electrolytes.
- Commission, operate, and troubleshoot minipilot and pilot systems.
- Prepare test plans, run test campaigns, and process data.
- Assist with equipment maintenance, instrumentation, and data acquisition.
- Prepare and characterize limestone feedstocks and lime products.
- Organize chemistry and quality data and maintain the feedstock database.
- Coordinate clinker trials with external labs and industry partners.
- Support mass and energy balances, process modelling, and equipment sizing.
- Prepare and review engineering documents like PFDs, P&IDs, datasheets, and vendor quotes.
- Perform techno-economic and carbon intensity analyses.
- Analyze data, prepare figures, and summarize results in reports and presentations.
- Complete safety training and follow all SOPs and hazard assessments.
- Maintain organized lab notebooks and data files.
- Collaborate across an interdisciplinary team and present your work to the technical team at the end of your term.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in an undergraduate program for chemical, mechanical, or process engineering.
- Completion of at least two years of your program by the start of the term.
- Eligibility for a co-op or internship work term through your institution.
- Coursework in thermodynamics, fluid mechanics, heat and mass transfer, reaction engineering, or electrochemistry.
- Comfort with hands-on lab, shop, or plant work and a willingness to learn new equipment.
- Working proficiency with Excel or Python for data analysis.
- Previous co-op or research experience is preferred.
- Familiarity with process simulation, CAD, MATLAB, P&IDs, or lab characterization techniques like XRD, XRF, or SEM is an asset.
