About the role#
This internship offers mentorship and development for individuals interested in the non-profit sector and the defense of Indigenous Peoples' rights, lands, and cultures. You will report to the Capacity Building Program Manager and contribute to grantmaking funds including the Keepers of the Earth Fund, Community Media Grants Project, and the Indigenous Youth Fellowship Project. This is a remote, three-month opportunity starting February 1, 2027.
What you'll do#
- Provide administrative support to the Grantmaking team, including updating databases and organizing files and reports.
- Assist with program communications and document translation, drafting, editing, and proofreading.
- Produce written content such as project summaries, interview write-ups, and audio transcriptions.
- Create multimedia and graphic design content to uplift grant and fellowship projects.
- Gain experience in a multicultural work environment while learning about global Indigenous movements.
What you'll need#
- Outstanding writing and communication skills.
- Ability to write concise summaries and pay close attention to detail.
- Proficiency with the internet and creative experience with Excel templates.
- Video editing skills.
- Independence, reliability, and self-motivation.
- A strong interest in Indigenous peoples' rights, activism, and traditions.
- Fluency in English and Spanish is highly desired. Knowledge of Portuguese or other languages is a plus.
Location & details#
- This is a remote internship.
- The commitment is 15 hours per week for 3 months.
- Interns receive a one-time $500 stipend to cover expenses such as internet and office materials.
- Upon successful completion, you will receive an internship certificate.
