About the role#
The Agronomy Intern works with the CSS Farms team to learn hands-on skills related to our chip potato operations. You will gain exposure to all facets of our work through field tasks, research projects, and educational opportunities. This is a full-time, paid internship for Summer 2027.
What you'll do#
- Support the Agronomy Team with weekly pest scouting, tissue sampling, crop management, and irrigation scheduling.
- Participate in data collection for R&D test plots and evaluate on-farm research.
- Assist with irrigation system scheduling and soil moisture management.
- Gain experience in pesticide programs and planning.
- Observe field operations, including potato planting and harvesting.
- Give and receive real-time performance feedback to support your professional development.
- Present a summary of your observations from field scouting and research efforts to management.
- Take on other tasks as needed.
What you'll need#
- Pursuing an Associates or Bachelor’s degree in agronomy, crop science, or a related field.
- A valid driver’s license or the ability to obtain one and pass vehicle insurance verification.
- Technical skills with Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Word.
- Strong organizational and project management skills.
- Excellent communication skills and a willingness to ask for and value constructive feedback.
- Ability to work outdoors in various elements and lift objects up to 40-50 lbs.
Location & details#
- Location: Winnemucca, Nevada.
- Term: Summer 2027 (Mid-May through Mid-August).
- Work Modality: On-site.
- Typical hours are 7 AM to 5 PM, Monday through Friday, with occasional extra hours during peak times.
