About the role#
The Design Engineer Co-op supports product development and continuous improvement at Crane Company. This role offers hands-on experience in both the engineering laboratory and the production environment. You will work with cross-functional teams to develop products while focusing on design, testing, and manufacturing efficiency.
What you'll do#
- Create and modify product designs using SolidWorks.
- Support new product development and existing product improvement projects.
- Conduct laboratory testing and evaluate product performance.
- Participate in Value Analysis and Value Engineering initiatives to reduce costs.
- Develop and maintain manufacturing, assembly, and engineering documentation.
- Evaluate product ergonomics, manufacturability, and safety.
- Support the development and documentation of assembly processes.
- Analyze data to identify trends and make design recommendations.
- Investigate design alternatives to simplify assembly and enhance performance.
- Troubleshoot manufacturing issues and assist with implementing solutions.
- Collaborate with engineering and operations teams to reach project goals.
What you'll need#
- Sophomore standing or higher in Mechanical, Manufacturing, or Industrial Engineering, or a related scientific discipline.
- Experience with CAD software, preferably SolidWorks.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and attention-to-detail skills.
- Ability to manage multiple projects and work independently.
- Strong verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
- Comfort working on the production floor.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.
- Ability to work a full-time schedule of 40 hours per week.
