This internship places you on one of four specialized engineering teams: Powerpack, Mechanisms, Fluids, or TCA & Thrusters. You will own a scoped project from initial definition through to final results, working directly with hardware in a hands-on environment.
What you'll do#
- Own a component, analysis, or test task end to end.
- Produce CAD models and engineering drawings following ASME Y14.5 GD&T standards.
- Perform hand calculations and FEA, then validate your predictions against test data.
- Collaborate with machinists and technicians on the shop floor.
- Support engine tests by writing instrumentation requests, staffing test-day shifts, and reducing data.
- Troubleshoot hardware and participate in root cause discussions.
- Present your work and findings to the team at the end of the term.
What you'll need#
- Enrollment in an undergraduate or graduate STEM program, such as Mechanical, Aerospace, or Chemical Engineering, or Physics.
- Strong fundamentals in fluid mechanics, thermodynamics, structural mechanics, kinematics, or heat transfer.
- Proficiency with CAD software like NX, SolidWorks, CATIA, Creo, or Fusion 360.
