About the role#
As an Optical Fiber Intern, you will join an engineering team to work on manufacturing or technology development projects. You will own key objectives and contribute to the success of our operations. This role involves working with cross-functional teams to solve problems and improve our processes.
What you'll do#
- Apply engineering principles to improve manufacturing equipment and processes.
- Analyze data to develop improvements for products, processes, or equipment.
- Document your work and present findings to the team.
- Provide recommendations for improvements based on your analysis.
- Interface with various engineering and operations groups to understand the impact of changes.
- Review performance data and draw conclusions from your findings.
- Engage with project teams to meet specific project requirements.
What you'll need#
- Enrollment in a BS or MS program for Electrical, Mechanical, Materials, or Chemical Engineering.
- A graduation date of December 2027 or later.
- Availability for 10 weeks during the Summer of 2027.
- Familiarity with engineering process fundamentals and scientific methodology.
- Experience with data and statistical analysis.
- Knowledge of design of experiments (DOE) concepts.
- Strong analytical problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work in teams and build relationships across the organization.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Interest in pursuing a career at Corning after graduation.
