About the role#
As an Optical Fiber Engineering Co-Op, you will join an engineering team at a manufacturing facility. You will use your technical background to complete project deliverables and support technology development. This role involves improving manufacturing equipment, refining processes, and building or evaluating prototypes. You will own key project objectives and work alongside engineering and operations groups to drive results.
What you'll do#
- Analyze data to develop improvements for products, processes, or equipment.
- Present findings, document work, and provide recommendations based on your analysis.
- Engage with cross-functional teams to solve problems and meet project requirements.
- Review performance data on new processes to draw conclusions.
- Communicate effectively with personnel at various levels of the organization.
- Interface with different groups to understand the impact of process or equipment changes.
What you'll need#
- Enrollment in a full-time BS or MS program for Electrical, Mechanical, Materials, or Chemical Engineering.
- Familiarity with engineering process fundamentals and scientific methodology.
- Skills in data and statistical analysis.
- Experience or knowledge of design of experiments (DOE) concepts.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
- Strong problem-solving, troubleshooting, and time management skills.
- Ability to work in teams, build relationships, and handle ambiguity.
- Willingness to work with your hands and a high attention to detail.
- Experience with Six Sigma DMAIC or similar principles is a plus.
