About the role#
This summer internship supports the manufacturing and engineering of precision optical systems. You will join the mechanical design team at Corning Advanced Optics to assist with new product introductions and system modeling.
What you'll do#
- Perform mechanical design and engineering tasks.
- Support new product introduction and process development.
- Conduct design of experiments.
- Provide modeling and analysis support for opto-mechanical systems.
- Work on new designs for precision optical assemblies.
- Optimize fabrication and metrology methods across optical, mechanical, and assembly departments.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in a BS or MS program for Mechanical, Optical, Manufacturing, or Engineering Science.
- Experience with engineering tools such as Creo, Solidworks, MATLAB, or Visual Basic programming in Excel.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Clear written and oral communication skills.

- Location: Fairport, New York.
- Term: Summer 2027.
- Schedule: Full-time, on-site.
- Compensation: $1,635.00 to $3,185.00 biweekly.
