About the role#
This internship position within the Work Place Services Division supports mechanical and electrical facility engineering initiatives. You will work on-site in Corning, New York, for a 10-week period during the summer of 2027. This is a full-time, paid role.
What you'll do#
- Create and update facility drawings and schematics for mechanical and electrical systems.
- Perform field verifications and measurements of existing mechanical equipment for heating, air-conditioning, and exhaust systems.
- Label HVAC system equipment and enter data into the Maximo maintenance management system.
- Verify that heating and air-conditioning computer control graphics accurately reflect field conditions.
- Develop AutoCAD drawing templates for HVAC projects.
What you'll need#
- Enrollment in a Mechanical Engineering program with a graduation date of December 2026 or later.
- Proficiency in AutoCAD MEP and experience with computer modeling and analysis software.
- A high level of technical interest and the ability to learn design and system integration skills.
- Experience using experimentation to develop process knowledge, design prototype test systems, and perform proof of principle testing.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills, including experience presenting to groups.
- The ability to build effective relationships and work with people from diverse technical backgrounds.
- A self-starter attitude with sound problem-solving and decision-making skills.
- Willingness to work at the Corning, NY location and interest in future employment with the company.
