About the role#
As a Measurements Engineering Intern, you will work with the Manufacturing, Technology and Engineering division to improve how we inspect and guide the production of glass and ceramics. You will work closely with a senior engineer to build prototypes, develop software, and integrate measurement systems into our manufacturing lines. This is a 10-week, full-time, on-site internship for Summer 2027.
What you'll do#
- Design and build measurement systems for inspection, guidance, and identification.
- Assemble prototypes on optical tables using various imaging and illumination platforms.
- Develop algorithms and software for data processing and machine learning.
- Test, calibrate, and troubleshoot systems to ensure they meet performance standards.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate new systems into the manufacturing process.
- Provide technical support and training to operators and maintenance staff.
- Maintain system documentation and ensure compliance with safety regulations.
- Present your project work to the technical community at the end of the term.
What you'll need#
- Currently pursuing a Bachelors degree in Computer, Electrical, or Mechanical Engineering.
- Completed at least 2 years of your degree, with a preference for students who have finished their 3rd year.
- Graduation date of December 2027 or later, and graduating within 12 months of the internship.
- Interest in working for Corning after graduation.
- Hands-on experience with robotics, benchtop systems, or automation.
- Familiarity with imaging, optics, lasers, and sensors.
- Experience with data acquisition hardware and software, computer vision, or AI technologies.
- Proficiency in at least one programming language, such as Python, C#, or MATLAB.
- Strong analytical, communication, and documentation skills.
