About the role#
This internship supports the design, analysis, and manufacturing of EO/IR and hyperspectral imaging systems. You will work within the Advanced Optics engineering team to develop custom precision imaging solutions. This is a paid, full-time position based on-site in Keene, New Hampshire.
What you'll do#
- Collaborate with the EO/IR imaging team to design, engineer, and build imaging systems.
- Develop tooling, testing approaches, and instrumentation.
- Use experimentation to build process knowledge and design prototype test systems.
- Perform proof of principle testing to validate imaging approaches.
- Work as part of a multi-disciplinary product development team.
What you'll need#
- Current pursuit of a degree in Optics, Electronics, or a related discipline with a concentration in Optics or Imaging Science.
- A graduation date of December 2027 or later.
- Ability to commit to a 10-week period during Summer 2027.
- Basic understanding of optical systems and imaging techniques.
- Working knowledge of analysis tools like MatLab, Python, or Excel.
- Strong written and oral communication skills.
- Technical curiosity and a desire to develop skills in precision engineering.
- Interest in potential full-time employment with Corning after graduation.
- Experience or exposure to focal plane arrays, image processing, infrared imaging, detector characterization, or precision optical alignment is preferred.
