About the role#
This internship with the Manufacturing IT team offers hands-on experience in the optical fiber manufacturing process. You will work directly with engineers and technicians to manage and improve the control systems that keep our production lines running. This role focuses on the intersection of software development and industrial technology.
What you'll do#
- Support the management, modification, and development of control systems.
- Build or update software, including web-based and stand-alone applications, to support manufacturing needs.
- Partner with engineering and operations teams to identify areas for improvement and implement solutions.
- Troubleshoot issues related to software, control systems, and manufacturing technology.
- Manage the full project lifecycle, from requirements gathering and solution design to testing, documentation, and final implementation.
- Analyze system performance and communicate findings to technical and business partners.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in an undergraduate or graduate program for Computer Science, Data Science, Computer Engineering, Information Technology, Software Engineering, Analytics, or a related technical field.
- A graduation date of December 2027 or later.
- Availability for a 10-week period during Summer 2027.
- Strong analytical, critical-thinking, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work well in a team and communicate effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Preferred: Coursework or experience with C, Visual Basic.NET, C#, or VB.NET.

- Compensation: This is a paid internship.
