About the role#
This internship is part of the Manufacturing IT team at the Concord plant. You will work alongside engineers and technicians who manage, modify, and develop control systems for optical fiber manufacturing. This role provides hands-on experience with plant systems, software development, and cross-functional improvement initiatives.
What you'll do#
- Support the management, modification, and development of control systems used in optical fiber manufacturing.
- Develop or modify software for manufacturing, including web-based or stand-alone applications.
- Collaborate with engineering and operations teams to understand needs and implement improvements.
- Assist with troubleshooting software, control system, and manufacturing technology issues.
- Participate in the full project lifecycle, including requirements gathering, solution design, testing, documentation, and implementation.
- Analyze system performance and identify opportunities for improvement.
- Document technical solutions, configurations, and project outcomes.
- Communicate progress and recommendations to technical and business partners.
What you'll need#
- Pursuing an undergraduate or graduate degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Information Systems, Data Science, Computer Engineering, Software Engineering, Analytics, Engineering, or a related technical discipline.
- Graduation date of December 2027 or later.
- Available for 10 weeks during Summer 2027.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and critical-thinking skills.
- Ability to learn new technologies and business concepts quickly.
- Effective written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work in a team environment and engage with technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Preferred programming coursework or experience in C, Visual Basic.NET, C#, or VB.NET.
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications.
