About the role#
This internship is part of the corporate global sustainability and climate initiatives team. You will support efforts to reduce greenhouse gas emissions and meet climate goals validated by the Science Based Targets Initiative. The role provides industrial experience and requires you to present your work to the sustainability center of excellence team at the end of the term.
What you'll do#
- Lead data collection and analysis efforts.
- Engage with subject matter experts to draft and optimize sustainability data responses.
- Use AI tools for sustainability reporting.
- Align energy utilization and data approaches for produced materials.
- Create training and education materials for sustainability professionals.
- Support data collection from business units and manufacturing sites for greenhouse gas accounting.
- Optimize tools to visualize and track sustainability progress, customer requirements, and market intel.
- Work with Global Supply Management to quantify and reduce supplier greenhouse gas emissions.
- Support resource efficiency, material utilization, and waste reduction efforts.
What you'll need#
- Pursuing a BS or MS in environmental science, engineering, or a related science discipline.
- Graduation date of December 2027 or later.
- Proficiency in Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to work as a self-motivated, multidisciplinary team player.
- Adaptable, creative, and clear communication skills.
- Strong interest in sustainability, climate, and social issues.
- Interest in pursuing future employment with Corning Incorporated.
Location & details#
- Location: Corning, New York.
- Term: 10 weeks during Summer 2027.
- Schedule: Full-time, 40 hours per week.
- Modality: On-site.
