Controls Engineer - Intern - Summer 2026

About the role#

This internship provides hands-on experience in designing, implementing, and troubleshooting automated control systems for industrial applications. You will work alongside experienced engineers on real-world projects to develop your technical and professional skills. This is a full-time, paid internship for Summer 2026.

What you'll do#

• Assist in the design, development, and testing of control systems, including PLC programming, HMI development, and SCADA systems.
• Support the troubleshooting and debugging of control system hardware and software under the guidance of senior engineers.
• Draft and review technical documentation, wiring diagrams, and system schematics.
• Help with the installation, commissioning, and maintenance of control systems on-site.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including mechanical, electrical, and software engineers, to ensure project success.

What you'll need#

• Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics, Automation, or a related field.
• A basic understanding of control systems, PLCs, and industrial automation concepts.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with excellent verbal and written communication abilities.
• Familiarity with programming languages such as Ladder Logic, Structured Text, or Function Block Diagram is a plus.
