About the role#
As a Test & Validation Intern, you will work directly with hardware and software to verify our autonomous truck unloading systems. You will run robots through structured test procedures and provide data that determines if features are ready for customer sites. This is a hands-on position involving real robots, physical test environments, and daily data collection. You will work alongside test engineers and feature owners to ensure our automation teams receive reliable feedback on every change.
What you'll do#
- Execute predefined test procedures across tiered levels, ranging from single-box handling to full simulated site conditions.
- Record and report test results, including logging failure modes, timestamps, and environmental conditions.
- Set up and tear down test environments, such as conveyor configurations and sensor calibrations, following documented runbooks.
- Flag test failures and route them to feature owners with supporting logs, video, and metrics.
- Maintain test result dashboards to provide real-time visibility into product readiness.
- Track regression by re-running previously passing tests after hardware or code changes.
- Assist test engineers with instrumentation upkeep and environment maintenance.
- Document any gaps in existing runbooks or issues with test setups.
What you'll need#
- Current pursuit of a degree in robotics, mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, or a related field.
- Ability to perform repetitive, structured tasks with high precision and attention to detail.
- Skill in documenting and communicating observations versus expected results.
- Basic familiarity with the Linux command line.
- Ability to follow technical runbooks.
- Preferred: Experience with ROS, sensor data, robotic systems, or ticket management systems like Jira.
Location & details#
- This is a full-time, paid, on-site internship located in Austin, Texas.
- You must be available for two continuous terms, such as Spring and Summer or Summer and Fall.
- This role does not offer sponsorship.
