    About the role#

    As a Research Intern, you will join study teams to work on national security issues. You will contribute to projects that inform defense policy and operations. This internship offers hands-on experience in applying analysis to real-world challenges. You will work on a self-contained research project or support ongoing studies.

    What you'll do#

    • Collaborate with researchers and analysts on complex security topics.
    • Define and structure analytical problems.
    • Develop analytical techniques and carry out research to logical conclusions.
    • Present findings to internal teams and stakeholders.
    • Communicate results through both written reports and oral presentations.

    What you'll need#

    • A Bachelor's degree in physical sciences, engineering, operations research, mathematics, statistics, economics, international relations, or a related field.
    • Current enrollment in a graduate program (master's or PhD).
    • Undergraduate research experience, such as literature searches, data analysis, and report writing.
    • Experience with database manipulation and Microsoft Office.
    • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
    • US citizenship is required, as you must be able to obtain and maintain a security clearance.
    • Graduate-level coursework is preferred.

    Location & details#

    • This is a full-time summer 2027 internship based in Arlington, Virginia.
    • The role is eligible for hybrid or remote work arrangements at the discretion of your supervisor.
